Daniel Crumback created the Physiological Testing, Analysis and Programming Certification as a comprehensive training series built to provide fitness and health professionals with the knowledge and experience required to fully harness the many benefits of physiological testing.
By understanding how to effectively collect and accurately interpret data, you will be able to build robust and customized training and nutrition programs tailored to your clientele’s exact health and fitness limitations and goals.
For the purpose of demonstration this Certification Program will employ the KORR CardioCoach metabolic analyser, but rest assured the program can easily be applied to any metabolic analyser (PNOĒ, VO2master, Cosmed etc.). The program provides education on exercise physiology, an in-depth analysis of systems critical to human performance, protocol creation, how to identify system specific limitations, different methods of zoning as well as how you can use test results to focus your nutrition and training programs for your customers.
The Certification Program is built to be valuable for all fitness and medical professionals or those interested in expanding their knowledge around human physiology, metabolic testing, data analysis and evaluation, zoning, identification of cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic limitations, as well as limitation and goal specific exercise and nutrition program development. The program is accredited through ACSM, NASM and AFAA. The Certification Program consists of three levels – Foundations, Advanced and Expert.
The Foundations Certification consists of four online modules. Each module consists of 8-10 lessons . There is an online multiple-choice exam after each module. You must pass each exam to move onto the next module. At the end of final module, there is a case study based written test that must be passed to be awarded with the certification.
ACSM/AFAA 6.0 credits – NASM 0.6 credits:
The program begins by offering a foundational education on three key elements of human physiology: the cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic systems. This training further explores how these systems interact and impact function and performance. It forms the baseline for all future modules and ensures a common terminology.
NASM 1.0 credits
Gain a comprehensive understanding of metabolic testing including completing Resting Metabolic Rate and VO2max testing using a variety of test modalities.
NASM 1.0 credits
Discover how best to analyse data from metabolic testing to accurately identify physiological limitations and intensity specific zoning.
Module IV How to Build Data Driven Nutrition and Training Programs (10 hours) ACSM/AFAA 10.0 credits – NASM 1.0 credits
How to utilise physiological test results to create effective nutrition programs and design training programs that addresses the physiological limitations identified through metabolic analysis by striking the optimum balance of resistance, interval and cardio training as well as respiratory training.
Expand upon the Foundations Certification curriculum and delve into specialized testing protocols for medical clients and endurance athletes. We will introduce combining metabolic analysis with other devices such as Moxy Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS), Spirometry and Body Composition including how to analyse and use the combined data to prescribe effective nutrition and exercise programs. This module also addresses identification of potential health conditions through metabolic testing. We will introduce wellness, recovery and preparedness monitoring to help guide your training plan implementation.
Now that trainees have the theory, take your testing, data analysis, evaluation, and nutrition and training recommendations to the next level. Module V offers hands-on experience with a variety of metabolic and biometric testing devices. Experts will guide you through testing, data analysis and evaluation, zoning and limitation identification on different modalities and teach you how to provide effective limitation and goal specific nutrition and exercise programming. You will also have the opportunity to apply load management, wellness, and recovery measurement theory to help you design safe and effective periodized training programs.
